Riot Games has announced its latest charity fundraiser in League of Legends. Previous initiatives have included the Mid-Season Streamathon, which raised $630,000 for COVID-19 relief. Riot has also previously partnered with organizations that address social inequalities in the games industry, like Games for Change.
For this event, the American game developer has granted players the ability to support frontline health workers. You’ll do so by purchasing cosmetic skins inside its popular MOBA game.
Riot Games for charity
Riot Games will donate 100% of its proceeds from a variety of skins, chromas, borders, emotes, and more toward the Riot Games Social Impact Fund at ImpactAssets. This is a nonprofit, philanthropic fund that acts as a separate entity from the game developer. It directly supports frontline workers and provides financial aid to families negatively impacted by the virus.
The fundraiser event will start on June 25 at 1:00 p.m. PT and last until July 23 at 1:00 p.m. PT. All of these League cosmetics will be marked with a Social Impact badge in the store. The full list of applicable items consists of the following:
- Surgeon Shen skin
- Surgeon Shen chromas
- Surgeon Shen border and icon set
- Nurse Akali skin
- Nurse Akali chromas
- Nurse Akali border and icon set
- Kennen M.D. skin
- Kennen M.D. chromas
- Kennen M.D. border and icon set
- From Akali with Love! Emote
- Megadonor bundle (includes all of the above plus an exclusive Megadonor icon)
League of Legends skins
After the conclusion of the fundraiser event, there is a possibility that Riot Games may eventually add the chroma items to the Gemstone shop in the future. The skins will also remain available to players. However, most of the chromas, emotes, and bundles will only be available for purchase during the limited period.
