Amidst the departures of several large organizations, Team Liquid has entered Rocket League. With the announcement of RLCS X earlier in the week, this is excellent news for the scene and shows that they trust Psyonix to work hard to bring Rocket League to the next tier.
Team Liquid signs Speed, Kuxir97, and Fruity
Team Liquid enters the scene by signing the trio of Jack “Speed” Packwood-Clarke, Francesco “Kuxir97” Cinquemani, and latest addition Emil “Fruity” Moselund, who was replaced on Oxygen Esports this off-season. It’s a significant bounce-back for Fruity, who lost both his organization (Team Reciprocity) and his starter spot. Now he’s signed for one of the largest organizations Rocket League has ever seen.
“Joining an established organisation like Team Liquid is honestly a dream,” the Dane says on the official announcement post. “I’ve watched Team Liquid grow over several years and being part of them going forward is really appealing to me. I’m so excited to introduce the game and RL scene to all the TL fans around the world. It’s a privilege to represent TL, and I’m excited for the future.”
Teammate Speed is equally excited, calling Team Liquid his dream organization and the biggest no-brainer he’s ever had.
The future of Rocket League
After season nine of the RLCS, the esport’s future seemed up in the air. The growth was plateauing, larger organizations remained hesitant about joining the scene, and the format was getting stale. Then the exodus of the organizations happened. Many slowly came to terms with the thought of Rocket League heading towards its last legs.
That mindset has made a full 180 in the span of a week with a complete overhaul for RLCS Season X. Psyonix announced a $4.5 million prize pool, and now Team Liquid has finally taken the plunge. The fanbase has eagerly waited for the next large organization to give Rocket League a chance. Ninjas in Pyjamas has repeatedly teased over the years but never followed up. Team Liquid, however, came straight out of nowhere but is a positive surprise indeed.
